 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, the senate learned with  great  sadness  of  the
 3    death of Alan Victor Eck on Saturday, October 5, 2002; and

 4        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Eck  was  born  May 11, 1937 in Chicago to
 5    Elmer and Edna Eck; he graduated from Palatine High School in
 6    1955 where he was named Athlete of  the  Year,  lettering  in
 7    both  football  and track and field; he was inducted into the
 8    Palatine High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Eck attended  Northern  Illinois  University
10    and earned five varsity letters in football and track and was
11    named Little All-American in 1959-1960; he led the nation and
12    tied national small college records for touchdown receptions;
13    by the end of his career, he held eight NIU football records;
14    he  was  inducted  into  the  NIU  Athletic  Hall of Fame for
15    achievement in football and track in 1989; and

16        WHEREAS, Mr. Eck went on to work as a teacher  and  coach
17    at  the  high school level; he touched many lives and enjoyed
18    watching the many athletes he had the privilege of  coaching;
19    highlights   of   his   coaching   career  include  the  1965
20    undefeated, unscored on, championship  Palatine  High  School
21    football  team  and  serving as head coach for the 1977 Maine
22    East High  School  undefeated  conference  champion  football
23    team;  he  completed  his  coaching career at Maine West High
24    School and William Rainey Harper College; and

25        WHEREAS, MR. Eck enjoyed watching  sports  on  television
26    and  participating in the Fantasy Football League; he enjoyed
27    his yard, especially the squirrels and birds; he  spent  time
28    fishing and being with his family; and

29        WHEREAS,   Mr.  Eck  will  be  remembered  for  his  warm
30    personality, sense of humor, creative spirit and the love  he
31    had for his family and his many friends and colleagues; and

 1        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Eck  will  be  sadly  missed by family and
 2    countless friends,  especially  his  wife,  Maxine  Eck;  his
 3    sons,  Steven  Eck  and  David  (Kimberly) Eck; his daughter,
 4    Sheri (Todd) Adams; his  grandchildren,  Ashlyn  and  Madison
 5    Adams and Amanda Eck; and many others; therefore, be it

 6        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
 7    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our sincere
 8    sympathy to the family and friends of Alan Victor Eck; and be
 9    it further

10        RESOLVED, that a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
11    presented to the family of Alan Victor Eck.
