92_SR0529 LRB9218249KFkf 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Clinton Keith 4 Tomson of Geneva on Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at the age of 5 93; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Tomson was born in Dover, Kansas and resided 7 in Geneva for more than 60 years; 8 WHEREAS, After early success in the family cattle 9 business, he became executive secretary of the American 10 Shorthorn Breeders Association, which included the premier 11 breed of the country during the 1940s and 1950s; he soon 12 became a renowned national and international cattle judge; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, In 1951, he and his late partner, Frank Harding, 15 moved Harding and Harding Insurance Agency from Chicago 16 Stockyards to Geneva and created American Livestock Insurance 17 Company; he and Mr. Harding became the largest importers and 18 exporters of purebred livestock in the world; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Harding was the oldest member and past 20 president of the Geneva Golf Club; he was preceded in death 21 by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Aylward Tomson; 22 and 23 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family 24 and friends, especially his daughters, Happy (Bill) Pross, 25 Ann (Tom) Alexander and Katie Hawkins; his grandchildren, 26 Clint (Amy) and Will Pross, James, Matt and Peter Alexander 27 and Hadley Hawkins; and his great-grandaughters, Hannah and 28 Joey Pross; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 31 the passing of Clinton Keith Tomson and extend our sincere -2- LRB9218249KFkf 1 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of Clinton Keith Tomson.
