92_SR0536 LRB9217363BHbh 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Norman A. Brown of Park Ridge, who 4 passed away recently; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was believed to have been the resident 6 who lived in Park Ridge the longest, all 93 years of his 7 life; he was born in Park Ridge in 1909 to William G. and 8 Renata Brown; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was a service manager at the local 10 Ford dealer; he was a machinist for Douglas Aircraft, owned a 11 service station with his brother, Brownie Service Station, 12 and became a volunteer fireman in 1935; and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was elected to replace the city's fire 14 chief in 1947, becoming the city's first paid fire chief in 15 1961; during his career as fire chief, Mr. Brown and put all 16 his efforts into the department and fought to get the city's 17 first paramedics; in 1976, Mr. Brown retired and became an 18 avid gardener and worked a few days a week at Bachmann True 19 Value Hardware; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown's loving wife Elizabeth Ann preceded 21 him in death; and 22 WHEREAS, Norman Brown will be deeply missed by all those 23 who knew him and loved him, especially his son, Norman W. 24 (Kelly) Brown; his grandsons, William J. and Brendan A. 25 Brown; and his sister, Margaret Burrows; therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 28 his family and friends, the passing of Norman A. Brown; and 29 be it further 30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be -2- LRB9217363BHbh 1 presented to the family of Norman A. Brown with our sincere 2 condolences.
