92_SR0537 LRB9218255HShs 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Members of the Senate of the State of Illinois 3 were saddened to learn of the death of John R. Hillman of 4 Eureka on Tuesday, November 5, 2002; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Hillman was born May 31, 1920 in Knoxville 6 to John W. and Luella Bell Hillman; he married Ann Joseph on 7 November 11, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa; she preceded him in 8 death on January 2, 1968; he married Anna "Becky" Driscoll on 9 January 23, 1969 in Peoria; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Hillman served in the U.S. Army Air Force in 11 World War II and attained the rank of sergeant; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Hillman was a baker and owned and operated 13 Hillman's Pastry in Eureka from 1951 until retiring in 1976; 14 he then moved to Sebring, Florida, where he worked for the 15 Sebring News; and 16 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by all who knew 17 him, especially his wife, Anna "Becky" Driscoll Hillman; his 18 daughter, Gloria (Mrs. John) Phelps; his sons, John, Richard 19 (and Linda), Robert (and Kathy) and Russell (and Angie); his 20 stepsons, Charles (and Kathleen) Roberts and Terrance 21 Roberts; his stepdaughters, Maureen Lee and Cheryl (Mrs. 22 Simon) Knopf; his sister, Opal Minor; seventeen 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be 24 it 25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL 26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 27 of John R. Hillman and offer our sincere condolences to his 28 family and friends; and be it further 29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 30 presented to the family of John R. Hillman.
