 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn of the death of Albert T.
 4    "Auggie" DiCenso of Springfield on Friday, October 11,  2002;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiCenso  was  born  on  October 8, 1931 in
 7    Springfield, the son of Thomas and Bruna  Ferri  DiCenso;  he
 8    married Doris Gutzwiller in Springfield in 1960; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiCenso graduated from Cathedral Boys High
10    School; he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western
11    Illinois University and  his  Master's  degree  from  Eastern
12    Illinois University; and

13        WHEREAS, Mr. DiCenso taught and coached at Rochester High
14    School, Benld High School, Gillespie High School, St. Anthony
15    High  School  in  Effingham,  and Springfield School District
16    186;  he  worked  for  the  National  Electrical  Contractors
17    Association and the Illinois Department  of  Human  Services;
18    and

19        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiCenso was an accomplished athlete with a
20    passion for all sports; he  was  inducted  into  the  Western
21    Illinois   University  Sports  Hall  of  Fame,  the  Illinois
22    Basketball  Coaches  Association  Hall  of  Fame,   and   the
23    Springfield Sports Hall of Fame; and

24        WHEREAS,  Mr.  DiCenso  was  a  member of Christ the King
25    Parish where he  was  active  in  functions,  and  Holy  Name
26    Society; he was a past member of Knights of Columbus and Elks
27    Club;  he was active in youth baseball for more than 25 years
28    as a coach and manager; he was vice  president  and  business
29    manager  for  the  Springfield  Capitals  and participated in
30    Springfield's 55 and older slow-pitch baseball league; and

31        WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt  by  his  family

 1    and  friends, especially his wife, Doris; his three sons, Tom
 2    (wife, Kathy) DiCenso, Michael (wife, Liz) DiCenso,  and  Jim
 3    DiCenso;  his  two  daughters, Bissi and Kristin DiCenso; and
 4    his three grandchildren; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-SECOND  GENERAL
 6    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
 7    Albert  T. "Auggie" DiCenso along with all who knew and loved
 8    him; he will be remembered as a coach, mentor, and friend  to
 9    all;  we  extend  our  sincere condolences to his friends and
10    family; and be it further

11        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
12    presented to the family of Albert T. "Auggie" DiCenso.
