MADIGAN,MJ-CURRIE-MURPHY.

(MOLARO)

   40 ILCS 5/2-101           from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 2-101                      

        Amends the Illinois Pension Code.  Makes a technical change in  a      
   Section concerning the General Assembly.                                    
          PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission)                               
          House Bill 2698 has no fiscal impact.                                
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          40 ILCS 5/2-101                 from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 2-101         
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          40 ILCS 5/2-110                 from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 2-110         
        Deletes everything.  Amends the General Assembly Article  of  the      
   Illinois  Pension  Code.  Allows former members who have not yet begun      
   receiving a retirement annuity to establish credit for up to  2  years      
   of  prior military service.  Extends to July 1, 2002 the period during      
   which that credit  may  be  established  without  payment  of  amounts      
   representing employer contributions.  Effective immediately.
