SMITH. 20 ILCS 505/5d new Amends the Children and Family Services Act. Requires the Department, in consultation with the State Board of Education, to establish a child care provider training program to educate providers on healthy child brain development, risk factors for injury, and special needs. Requires the program to include appropriate referrals for intervention if a child is identified as needing special education or mental health treatment or is at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system.
