DEL VALLE. New Act Creates the Living Wage Law. Provides that beginning July 1, 2002, it is against public policy for an employer to pay his or her employees an amount less than the living wage established under this Act. Provides that any contract, agreement, or understanding entered into on or after July 1, 2002 for less than the living wage for any employment covered by this Act is void. Provides for enforcement of the Act by the Department of Labor. Establishes criminal penalties for violations of the Act and also provides for civil enforcement. Creates an advisory board to advise the Department on all matters related to the development of a living wage and future revisions to the living wage.
