WALSH,L. 720 ILCS 5/10-5 from Ch. 38, par. 10-5 Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Revises certain provisions of the offense of child abduction. Provides that it is child abduction for an adult stranger to knowingly contact or communicate with a child under 16 years of age, if the adult knows or reasonably should have known that the child is under 16 years of age, for the purpose of persuading and luring, or transporting or attempting to persuade and lure or transport that child away from the child's home or any location known by the child's parent, legal guardian, or custodian, to be a place where the child is located, for any purpose, without the express consent of the child's parent or legal guardian, and with the intent to avoid the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian. Eliminates the provision that it is child abduction to intentionally lure or attempt to lure a child under the age of 16 into a motor vehicle, building, housetrailer, or dwelling place without the consent of the parent or lawful custodian of the child for other than a lawful purpose. Effective immediately.
