House Sponsors: JOHNSON. Short description: PEN CD-IMRF-EARLY RETMT-ELECTD Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Article of the Illinois Pension Code. In the provisions restricting the return to employment after receiving early retirement benefits, excludes elective office. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE (Pension Laws Commission) HB287 would probably have little or no fiscal impact as there are few ERI participants likely to forfeit the enhanced (ERI) annuity, as required by current law, by serving as an elected official. Therefore, removing the prohibition against simul- taneously receiving an annuity (based on ERI age enhancement and service credit) and serving as an elected county official would allow some members to participate in an ERI (for regular IMRF service) and continue serving as an elected official.
