Short description: 
LAND USE INITIATIVE ACT                                                    

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the Land  Preservation  Initiative  Act  and  amends  the      
   Election  Code.    Provides for a statewide advisory referendum at the      
   2002 general election  as  to  whether  the  General  Assembly  should      
   increase  the  State  sales tax by .125% to fund a program to preserve      
   the State's open space. Exempts the referendum from  the  limit  of  3      
   advisory questions per general election.                                    
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Changes the proposed sales tax increase from 1/8 of  one  percent      
   to 2/10 of one percent.
