Senate Sponsors: SYVERSON Short description: TRANSPORT RESOURCES PROJECTS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Transportation Resources for Innovative Projects Act. Establishes the Transportation Resources for Innovative Projects Program in the Department of Transportation to support programs to address local transportation needs. Provides for: funding; applications for grants; grants to localities; technical assistance; interagency coordination and interagency agreements; administration; reports and plans; rules; and other matters. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes everything, and reinserts similar language creating the Transportation Resources for Innovative Projects Law, but replaces references to the interagency advisory committee with references to the Illinois Coordinating Committee on Transportation and makes other changes. Also creates the Illinois Coordinating Committee on Transportation Law. Creates the Illinois Coordinating Committee on Transportation to foster the coordination of public and private transportation services and establishes its membership, duties, and powers. Provides that the Lieutenant Governor or his or her designee shall serve as chairperson, and that the Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Human Services, or their designees, shall serve as vice-chairpersons and be responsible for staff support for the Committee.
