Short description: 
SCH CD-SUBSTITUTE TEACH LIMIT                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the School Code.  Removes the limit on the period of  time      
   a  substitute  teacher may teach in any one school district in any one      
   school term, provided that if the substitute  teacher  teaches  for  a      
   period  exceeding  90 paid school days or 450 paid school hours in the      
   district in a school term for 4 consecutive years, he or she must hold      
   an Initial or Standard Teaching Certificate or a Master Certificate to      
   continue to substitute teach.  Effective immediately.                       
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Deletes everything after the enacting clause.  Amends the  School      
   Code.    Provides  that,  for  the 2001-2002, 2002-2003, and 2003-2004      
   school years, a teacher holding an early childhood,  elementary,  high      
   school,  or  special certificate may substitute teach for a period not      
   to exceed 120 paid school days or 600 paid school  hours  in  any  one      
   school  district in any one school term (now, a substitute teacher may      
   teach only for a period not to exceed 90 paid school days or 450  paid      
   school  hours  in  any  one  school  district in any one school term).      
   Effective immediately.
