House Sponsors: KRAUSE-CURRIE. Short description: DOR CALCULATE EARN INCOME CRDT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Income Tax Act. Requires the Department of Revenue to identify taxpayers who received the federal earned income tax credit and determine whether those taxpayers claimed a State earned income tax credit in taxable year 2000. Provides that if a taxpayer is entitled to a State earned income credit but did not claim the credit, the Department must calculate the amount of the taxpayers credit and refund that amount to the taxpayer. Effective immediately.
