House Sponsors: MADIGAN,MJ-CURRIE-O'BRIEN. Short description: LAW ENFORCEMENT STATISTICS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Requires that, whenever a State law enforcement officer issues a uniform traffic citation or warning citation, he or she must record on the face of the citation the race of the motorist and whether there was a search of the vehicle, vehicle driver, or passenger resulting in no further legal action. Requires the Director of State Police to compile the data collected from the citations and forward it to the Secretary of State. Requires the Secretary of State, for 3 years, to study this data to determine whether there is a pattern of discrimination throughout the State in the enforcement of the Illinois Vehicle Code and make a report of those findings to the legislative leaders and the Governor. Effective immediately.
