Senate Sponsors: DEL VALLE-MADIGAN,L-TROTTER-HENDON Short description: UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE-TECH Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the powers and duties of the Director of Employment Security. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Employment Security) The unemployment insurance system is designed to respond to increased benefit payments with subsequent increases in em- ployer taxes paid. Under the current baseline economic assump- tions, employer taxes would increase by an aggregate $287 million from 2002 due to the implementation of these addition- al benefits. PENSION NOTE, H-AM 1 (Pension Laws Commission) HB2935, as amended by H-am 1, does not amend the Pension Code; it has no fiscal impact on any public pension fund or retire- ment system in Illinois. Provides that the Director of Employment Security shall take action or adopt rules necessary to ensure that the program's provisions are interpreted and applied to meet federal requirements. Effective immediately.
