Short description: 
DPT NUC SAF-NUC THREATS                                                    

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends  the  Department  of  Nuclear  Safety  Law  of  the  Civil      
   Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the  Department  of  Nuclear      
   Safety  to  study the adequacy of federal and State laws regarding the      
   transportation  of  nuclear  and  radioactive  materials.  Amends  the      
   Illinois Nuclear Safety Preparedness Act. Requires that  the  Governor      
   conduct  a  study  to  identify  the  types  of  threats  that pose an      
   appreciable risk to the security of facilities licensed by the Nuclear      
   Regulatory Commission. Effective immediately.                               
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          20 ILCS 2005/2005-70                                                 
        Deletes  everything  after  the  enacting  clause.   Amends   the      
   Illinois  Nuclear Safety Preparedness Act.  Requires the Department of      
   Nuclear Safety to accept shipments of potassium iodide from the United      
   States Nuclear Regulatory Commission in sufficient quantities to allow      
   for distribution to all local emergency management agencies that serve      
   those counties that have a nuclear power  facility  and  the  counties      
   adjacent  to  those  that  have  a  nuclear power facility.  Effective      
   immediately.
