Senate Sponsors: HAWKINSON-WATSON-LUECHTEFELD-WOOLARD-O'DANIEL Short description: CD CORR-PRIVATE VENDOR-FOOD Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections may not enter into a contract with a private vendor to provide food services for institutions or facilities of the Department that are operating before January 1, 2004. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the provisions of the bill apply to all facilities of the Department of Corrections (rather than those operating before January 1, 2004). Changes the definition of "private vendor" to a vendor that is not the State of Illinois.
