Provides that, with the approval of the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts has the power to appoint persons as Judicial Security Officers to provide for the personal security of the Justices of the Supreme Court. Gives Judicial Security Officers all the powers possessed by police officers and sheriffs, including the power to make arrests. Allows Judicial Security Officers to exercise these powers anywhere in the State as required to protect the Justices of the Supreme Court or the properties and interests of the Supreme Court. Provides for qualifications for appointment as a Judicial Security Officer. Requires the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts to issue to each Judicial Security Officer a distinct badge that, on its face, (i) clearly states that it is authorized by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts and (ii) contains a unique identifying number.
