House Sponsors: SCULLY. Short description: JUV CT-VICTIMS-MINOR ID Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. Restores the law as it existed before the effective date of Public Act 91-479 relating to the release of the name and address of a minor to the victim of the minor's crime or to the victim's parent, legal custodian, or guardian, if the victim was a minor. Provides that law enforcement officers, upon written request, may release to the victim, or if the victim is a minor, to the victim's legal custodian, guardian, or parent the name and address of the minor who committed the criminal offense against the victim if the law enforcement officer reasonably believes the release would not endanger the person or property of the arrested minor or his or her family. Permits the disclosure of the law enforcement records relating to a minor to programs and services defined as juvenile justice continuum that provide services described in that definition. Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (Illinois State Police) If HB 4394 were to become law, there would be minimal fiscal impact to the Illinois State Police. JUDICIAL NOTE (Illinois Courts Administrative Office) HB 4394 would neither increase nor decrease the number of judges needed in the State.
