House Sponsors: WINKEL-MATHIAS-KOSEL-O'CONNOR-ZICKUS Short description: WORLD WAR II VETERAN DIPLOMA Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Provides that school boards of districts that maintain grades 10 through 12 may award diplomas to honorably discharged veterans of World War II who left high school before graduating in order to serve in the armed forces of the United States and who have not received a high school diploma. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Allows diplomas to also be awarded to honorably discharged veterans of the Korean Conflict who left high school before graduating in order to serve in the armed forces of the United States. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 3. Deletes reference to: 105 ILCS 5/22-27 new Adds reference to: 105 ILCS 5/13B-20.30 105 ILCS 5/13B-30.15 Deletes everything after the enacting clause. If and only if House Bill 1096 (as amended by Senate Amendments Nos. 1 and 2) becomes law, amends the School Code to prohibit an alternative learning opportunities program from being established at a facility separate from the regular school program unless the school district presents information in its district plan showing that the use of a separate facility is in the educational interests of the participating students. Provides that indicators used to measure student outcomes for the evaluation of a program may include student academic achievement.
