PROPERTY TAXES-DELINQUENCY

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Property Tax Code. In foreclosure proceedings brought
to collect delinquent property taxes, provides for merger of prior
delinquent taxes into the tax deed grantee's title if the grantee or
any prior holder of the certificate of purchase, or any person or
entity under common ownership or control with any grantee or prior
holder of the certificate of purchase, was at no time the holder of
any certificate of purchase for the years sought to be merged. Deletes
certain prior provisions regarding merger of delinquent taxes into the
tax deed. Provides that the court shall enter an order specifying
which specific taxes have been or will be merged into the tax deed
title, that this information must be reflected in the warrant and
judgment records, and that the order shall not be effective until a
tax deed has been issued and timely recorded. Provides that this
amendatory Act is declarative of existing law.
