Senate Sponsors: SILVERSTEIN. House Sponsors: BIGGINS-MOORE Short description: PROPERTY TAXES-DELINQUENCY Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Property Tax Code. In foreclosure proceedings brought to collect delinquent property taxes, provides for merger of prior delinquent taxes into the tax deed grantee's title if the grantee or any prior holder of the certificate of purchase, or any person or entity under common ownership or control with any grantee or prior holder of the certificate of purchase, was at no time the holder of any certificate of purchase for the years sought to be merged. Deletes certain prior provisions regarding merger of delinquent taxes into the tax deed. Provides that the court shall enter an order specifying which specific taxes have been or will be merged into the tax deed title, that this information must be reflected in the warrant and judgment records, and that the order shall not be effective until a tax deed has been issued and timely recorded. Provides that this amendatory Act is declarative of existing law.
