Short description: 
CRIM CD-ELDERLY ABUSE                                                      

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Criminal Code of 1961.  Includes  in  the  offense  of      
   "criminal  neglect  of  an  elderly  or  disabled  person", physically      
   abusing, harassing, intimidating, or  interfering  with  the  personal      
   liberty  of  an  elderly  or disabled person or exposing an elderly or      
   disabled person to willful deprivation  as  defined  in  the  Illinois      
   Domestic  Violence  Act  of  1986.  Changes the name of the offense to      
   "criminal abuse or neglect of an elderly or disabled person".   Amends      
   the Children and Family Services Act and the Child Care Act of 1969 to      
   change cross references to reflect the new name of the offense.             
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        In the offense of criminal abuse or  neglect  of  an  elderly  or      
   disabled  person,  changes  the  new  penalty  for physically abusing,      
   harassing, or intimidating, or interfering with the  personal  liberty      
   of  the elderly or disabled person or exposing the elderly or disabled      
   person to willful deprivation from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class  4      
   felony.                                                                     
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                
        Provides that the new offense of physically  abusing,  harassing,      
   intimidating,  or interfering with the personal liberty of the elderly      
   or disabled person or exposing  the  elderly  or  disabled  person  to      
   willful  deprivation  is  a  Class  3  felony  rather  than  a Class A      
   misdemeanor.
