Requires a school board to permit the self-administration by a pupil of prescribed asthma medication, provided that the parents or guardians of the pupil (i) provide to the school or school board written authorization for the self-administration and (ii) provide to the school board written certification from the pupil's physician or other State-licensed health care provider that the pupil has asthma and is capable of self-administration of medication. Requires information concerning the medication to be kept on file. Contains provisions concerning liability. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 105 ILCS 5/10-20.35 new 105 ILCS 5/34-18.22 new Adds reference to: 105 ILCS 5/22-30 new Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the bill's self-administration of asthma medication language, but makes it applicable to nonpublic schools as well as public schools, changes references from school board to school, and makes changes concerning which health care providers prescribe medication, what information is to be provided to the school, and who is to provide the information.
