Short description: 
ELDER ABUSE-FAILURE TO REPORT                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Elder Abuse Demonstration Project Act  and  the  Elder      
   Abuse  and Neglect Act. Provides that a person, institution, or agency      
   making a report of elder abuse does not have immunity under the  Elder      
   Abuse  Demonstration Project Act if the person, institution, or agency      
   (i) willfully committed an act of physical or sexual abuse against the      
   victim named in the report or (ii) was grossly negligent in causing or      
   allowing an act of physical or sexual abuse to  be  committed  against      
   the  victim.  Extends the repeal date of the Elder Abuse Demonstration      
   Project Act from July 1, 2002  to  July  1,  2003.  Provides  for  the      
   following consequences of a failure to report suspected elder abuse or      
   neglect  under  the  Elder  Abuse  and Neglect Act: (1) a physician is      
   subject to disciplinary action under the Medical Practice Act of 1987;      
   (2) a facility is subject to a loss of State funding; and (3) a person      
   is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. Effective immediately.
