Provides that no exclusive contract is permissible for pain management services performed by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches. Effective June 30, 2002. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 210 ILCS 85/10.5 new Deletes everything. Amends the Hospital Licensing Act to make a technical change to a Section concerning medical staff privileges. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 210 ILCS 85/10.4 Adds reference to: 210 ILCS 85/10.5 new Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Prohibits exclusive contracts for pain management services performed by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches except in specified procedures or surgeries. Provides that a physician applicant to a hospital medical staff must meet the established criteria in the medical staff bylaws. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Provides that any physician applicant to a hospital medical staff must meet the established credentialing criteria (rather than criteria in the medical staff bylaws). Provides that the prohibition on exclusive contracts applies only to contracts entered, amended, or renewed after the effective date of the amendatory Act. Adds an immediate effective date.
