Senate Sponsors: WATSON AND JACOBS. House Sponsors: FOWLER-FORBY-MOFFITT Short description: COUNTIES CD-SHERIFF SALARIES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Counties Code. Provides that no county with a population under 2,000,000 may reduce the rate of compensation of its sheriff below the rate of compensation that it is actually paying to its sheriff on January 1, 2002 or the effective date of this amendatory Act. Also provides for an annual cost of living adjustment. Beginning December 1, 2002, with respect to the optional salary that may be paid to the Supervisor of Safety, retains the optional character but changes the maximum annual amounts to minimums. Amends the Local Government Officer Compensation Act to exempt these changes from the 180 day rule. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 50 ILCS 145/2 Deletes everything. Amends the Counties Code.
