Senate Sponsors: MAHAR. House Sponsors: TENHOUSE Short description: ICC-TELECOM PENALTY Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Public Utilities Act. Establishes a procedure for the imposition and collection of penalties with respect to public utilities other than telecommunications carriers. Provides that the Commerce Commission may compromise civil penalties. Provides that civil penalties related to the late filing of reports, taxes, and other filings shall be paid into the Public Utility Fund. Limits penalties to $30,000 per offense and $500,000 per continuing violation. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Removes telecommunications carriers from the scope of the bill. Effective immediately.
