Senate Sponsors: CULLERTON. Short description: VEH CD-AUTOMATED RED LIGHT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Defines "automated red light enforcement system" as a system that photographically records a vehicle's response to a traffic control signal with a red light indication and is designed to obtain a photograph of the vehicle and its license plate. Deletes language providing that the system may be established only in a municipality with a population of 1,000,000 or more. Deletes language providing that the system may be used only in specified circumstances. Provides that the owner of a vehicle used in a red signal violation shall be liable for the violation if the violation was recorded by the system, with exceptions. In a Section concerning administrative adjudication of violations, adds violations recorded by the system. Requires a municipality to forward a report of the adjudication to the Secretary of State.
