AN ACT concerning government.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
adding Section 175 as follows:
|
(5 ILCS 490/175 new) |
Sec. 175. Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke Day. The second |
Wednesday in May of each year is designated as Mother Mary Ann |
Bickerdyke Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day |
set apart to honor Mother Mary Ann Bickerdyke of Galesburg, |
military nurses, and the contribution of nurses to the State of |
Illinois and the United States of America.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
