AN ACT concerning government.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
adding Section 7 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/7 new) |
Sec. 7. Indigenous Peoples Day. The last Monday in |
September of each year is designated as Indigenous Peoples Day |
to be observed throughout the State as a day to recognize the |
contributions of indigenous peoples with suitable ceremony and |
fellowship designed to promote greater understanding and |
kinship between indigenous peoples and non-indigenous peoples |
of the State of Illinois.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
