AN ACT concerning homeless shelters.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the | ||||
Feminine Hygiene Products for the Homeless Act. | ||||
Section 5. Access to feminine hygiene products. Feminine | ||||
hygiene products, including, but not limited to, sanitary | ||||
napkins, tampons, and panty liners, shall be available free of | ||||
charge at all homeless shelters that provide temporary housing | ||||
assistance to women or youth. A homeless shelter's
obligation | ||||
to satisfy the requirement of this Section is
subject to the | ||||
availability of funds in the homeless shelter's
general | ||||
budget. As used in this Act, "homeless shelter" means a | ||||
supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to | ||||
provide temporary living accommodations to individuals who | ||||
lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence.
