AN ACT concerning homeless shelters.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
Feminine Hygiene Products for the Homeless Act.
|
Section 5. Access to feminine hygiene products. Feminine |
hygiene products, including, but not limited to, sanitary |
napkins, tampons, and panty liners, shall be available free of |
charge at all homeless shelters that provide temporary housing |
assistance to women or youth. A homeless shelter's
obligation |
to satisfy the requirement of this Section is
subject to the |
availability of funds in the homeless shelter's
general |
budget. As used in this Act, "homeless shelter" means a |
supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to |
provide temporary living accommodations to individuals who |
lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence.
