AN ACT concerning education.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
27-23.15 as follows:

Sec. 27-23.15. Study of the process of naturalization. |
Every public high school may include in its curriculum a unit |
of instruction about the process of naturalization by which a |
foreign citizen or foreign national becomes a U.S. citizen. |
The course of instruction shall include content from the |
components of the naturalization test administered by the U.S. |
Citizenship and Immigration Services. Each school board shall |
determine the minimum amount of instructional time under this |
Section.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
