AN ACT to amend the Illinois Plumbing License Law.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Illinois Plumbing License Law is amended
by adding Section 4 as follows:
(225 ILCS 320/4 new)
Sec. 4. Lawn sprinkler systems.
(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act or
of a local ordinance, until December 2, 1999, the
installation of lawn sprinkler systems, including any piping
2 inches or less in diameter and appurtenances, does not
require licensure under this Act or under local ordinance,
except that a licensed plumber or licensed apprentice plumber
(1) must install the backflow prevention device if the lawn
sprinkler is connected to a potable water system and (2) must
inspect every lawn sprinkler system installed by a person not
licensed under this Act. This Section is a limitation on
home rule units under Section 42, including home rule units
that are subject to Section 16.
(b) This Section is repealed on December 3, 1999.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.
