AN ACT to amend the Radiation Protection Act of 1990 by
changing Section 24.5.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Radiation Protection Act of 1990 is
amended by changing Section 24.5 as follows:

Sec. 24.5. Mammography installation; federal and State
programs.
(a) The Department may, with approval by the Secretary
of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, exercise
the powers, duties, and responsibilities of an accreditation
body under the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act of
1992. The Department may promulgate rules and incorporate
into the rules standards that may be necessary for the
Department to qualify as an accreditation body. The
Department may, by rule, establish reasonable fees to be paid
to the Department by mammography installations for
accreditation by the Department.
(b) The Department may implement a State program to
carry out the certification program requirements provided for
in the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992. The
Department may promulgate rules and enter into agreements as
necessary to implement the provisions of this Section. The
Department rules may, by rule, establish provide for the
establishment of a reasonable fees inspection fee to be paid
to the Department by mammography installations for
certification by the Department.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.
