SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence E. Gulley of Rock Island, who passed away on February 21, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Gulley was born in Benton to Lawrence J. and Josie (Aaron) Gulley on May 11, 1936; he married Bettie McGuire in 1956; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he married Mary Gulley in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Gulley worked as a union steward for Wonder Bread bakeries; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Gulley was preceded in death by his spouses; his son, Marshall Gulley; his parents; and his brothers, Arthur, Donald, and Charles Gulley; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Gulley is survived by his children, Trudy (Marty) Lawson, Becky (Larry) Thorndyke, Julie Miller, and John (Jacqueline) Gulley; his stepdaughter, Shelly; his 11 grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and his siblings, Mabel Harvey, Bill Gulley, and Robert Gulley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence E. Gulley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lawrence Gulley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
