HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, ExxonMobil is an American company committed to improving quality of life by meeting the critical needs of society and constantly working to meet the changing needs of its customers and stakeholders, with worldwide operations and five refineries located in the United States; and

WHEREAS, One of the ExxonMobil refineries, commonly referred to as the Joliet Refinery, is located in the Channahon Township of Will County; and

WHEREAS, The year 2022 marked the 50th anniversary celebration of the Joliet Refinery's operations in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Refinery contributes millions of dollars to the regional economy and is a stable employer, providing more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs for local pipefitters, electricians, operating engineers, carpenters, and others; and

WHEREAS, Each day, the Joliet Refinery processes over 11 million gallons of crude oil into gasoline, diesel, asphalt, liquefied petroleum gas, and other products for consumers and is among the most energy-efficient and lowest greenhouse gas emission refineries in the country, for which the organization has received EPA Energy Star awards; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Refinery employee volunteers support multiple local STEM education and community uplift campaigns; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Refinery has been recognized by the Wildlife Habitat Council and Channahon Parks for its commitment to environmental conservation; and

WHEREAS, The Joliet Refinery has been recognized with the AFPM Elite Silver Safety Award for attaining top industry safety performance and excellent safety program innovation and leadership; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery on its 50th anniversary, and we thank the organization for its work in supporting the local and state economies and meeting society's energy needs throughout the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Joliet Refinery as an expression of our respect and esteem.
