SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 25/1.25 new

    Amends the Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act. Provides that, by the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, an association or other entity that has, as one of its purposes, promoting, sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing for interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic competition among high schools and high school students within the State shall create regulations governing high school trap and skeet shooting teams, clubs, and activities. Provides that the regulations shall include rules on the transportation of trap and skeet shooting firearms and equipment, the management and storage of trap and skeet shooting firearms and equipment, trap and skeet shooting practices, trap and skeet shooting competitions, trap and skeet shooting safety procedures, emergency procedures, and any other rules that the association or entity deems suitable. Provides that the regulations shall be publicly posted and available on the association's or entity's Internet website. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act
5is amended by adding Section 1.25 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 25/1.25 new)
7    Sec. 1.25. Trap and skeet regulations.
8    (a) As used in this Section, "trap and skeet shooting"
9means the sport of shooting at a projectile, such as a clay
10pigeon, that is launched or thrown upward, vertically or
11horizontally, in such a way as to simulate the flight of a
12bird.
13    (b) By the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, an
14association or other entity that has, as one of its purposes,
15promoting, sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing
16for interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic
17competition among high schools and high school students within
18this State shall create regulations governing high school trap
19and skeet shooting teams, clubs, and activities. The
20regulations shall include rules on the transportation of trap
21and skeet shooting firearms and equipment, the management and
22storage of trap and skeet shooting firearms and equipment,
23trap and skeet shooting practices, trap and skeet shooting

6    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
7becoming law.
