SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Pat Madonia of Springfield, who passed away on April 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Madonia was born to William and Margaret Jane "Polly" (Pollock) Bland in Evergreen Park on April 7, 1948; she graduated from Ursuline Academy and Lincoln Land Community College; she married Thomas Gene Madonia Sr. in Springfield on August 30, 1969, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Madonia worked as a registered nurse at both Memorial Medical Center and Southern Illinois University for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Madonia was known as a little league mom, and she was a dedicated mother and homemaker for her family; she was an excellent cook and a devoted grandmother, affectionately called "Nannie" by her 10 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Madonia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, John Bland; and

WHEREAS, Mary Pat Madonia is survived by her sons, Tom (Katie) Madonia Jr., Mo (Sherri) Madonia, and Nick (Christine) Madonia; her grandchildren, Tynan, Nick Jr., Gretchen, Abby, Adam, Tommy, Grace, Ryan, Matthew, and Luca; her brother, Tom (Jeannette) Bland; her sister-in-law, Jeanne (Rich); her brother-in-law, Sam (Alice); and her nieces and nephews, Kelly, JC, Billy, Stacey, and Anne; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Pat Madonia and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Pat Madonia as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
