1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
534-18.82 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/34-18.82 new)
7    Sec. 34-18.82. Subsequent teaching endorsements for
8employees.
9    (a) Subsequent teaching endorsements may be granted to
10employees licensed under Article 21B of this Code for specific
11content areas and grade levels as part of a pilot program.
12    (b) The school district is authorized to prepare educators
13for subsequent teaching endorsements on licenses issued under
14paragraph (1) of Section 21B-20 of this Code to applicants who
15meet all of the requirements for the endorsement or
16endorsements, including passing any required content area
17knowledge tests. If seeking to provide subsequent
18endorsements, the school district must establish professional
19development sequences to be offered instead of coursework
20required for issuance of the subsequent endorsement and must
21apply for approval of these professional development sequences
22by the State Board of Education, in collaboration with the
23State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board. The

1professional development sequences under this Section shall
2include a comprehensive review of relevant State learning
3standards, the applicable State content-test framework, and,
4if applicable, relevant educator preparation standards.
5    (c) The State Board of Education shall adopt any rules
6necessary to implement this Section no later than June 30,
72024.
 
8    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
9becoming law.
