HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lillian Mary Cherry of Chicago, who passed away on July 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was born to Elise and Willie Jarvis Sr. in Chicago on January 31, 1925; she graduated from Dusable High School; she married Ervin Cherry on January 29, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry attended Holy Angels Catholic Church, where she participated in many events and enjoyed volunteering; she was a longtime member of the Blessed Sacrament Society; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was an avid traveler; more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family; every year, she looked forward to the holidays and the Cherry Family Reunion, where she could visit with all of the family at one time; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Willie Jarvis Jr. and Wyatt Jarvis; and her cousin, Dolores Payne; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry is survived by her children, Elsie, Sybil, Delores, Denise, Robbin, Darlene, Sylvia, and Marc; her grandchildren, Eddie, Stevie, Gene, Jerry, Patrice, Lisa, Tanya, Antoinette, Cheney, Donald, Dujuan, Angela, Thomasine, Lillian, Shenelle, Robin, Rayshawn, Jaunnine, Jasmine, Timmie Jr., Todd, Stephon, and Tamara; her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Sam Jarvis and Russell Jarvis; her sister, Nola Buford; and her goddaughter, Georgetta Williams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lillian Mary Cherry and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillian Cherry as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
