HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
4Charlotte Frances Martin, who passed away on May 22, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charlotte Martin was born to Kenneth V. Martin
6and Anna M. (Coleman) Martin in Chicago on September 7, 1964;
7she attended St. Felicitas Catholic School and graduated from
8Hyde Park Career Academy in 1983; she attended Olive Harvey
9Community College and Lewis University before later
10transferring to Malcolm X Community College, where she decided
11to pursue the hospitality industry; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charlotte Martin worked as a hotel clerk for The
13Red Roof Inn; she also worked as a clerk for the University of
14Illinois; she switched professions to work in fashion for 10
15years; she then decided to further help the community by
16assisting State Representative Marcus Evans; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Charlotte Martin loved singing and dancing; she
18deeply loved listening to house music and loved watching the
19live streams of DJ Cleve, a house music DJ, on Facebook; she
20enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially
21her mother; she also loved creating memories with her
22grandchildren; she was a true foodie whose favorite foods were

1tacos and barbecued chicken; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Charlotte Martin was affectionately known as "Cha
3Cha"; she was outgoing, loyal, smart, and respectful; she will
4be remembered as someone who loved having fun and was always
5laughing, smiling, and cracking jokes; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Charlotte Martin was preceded in death by her
7grandmother, Annie B. Dailey; her father; her brother, Keith
8Martin; and her nephew, Vernon "Little Vernon" Almond; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charlotte is survived by her mother; her sisters,
10Cheryl (Ronald) and Tonya (Kenneth); her brother, Vernon; her
11children, Devon and Khadia (Josh); her grandchildren, Zamir
12and Ashton; her nieces, Joy Ann and Sonsara (Markus); her
13nephews, Khari (Nese), Derrick (Shatia), and Dorian; and a
14host of family and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we mourn the passing of Charlotte Frances Martin and extend
18our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
19knew and loved her; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Charlotte Martin as an expression
