HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Lillian Lorena Watts on
4the occasion of her 100th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts was born in Springfield to Lorena
6and James Watts on November 27, 1923; she moved from Michigan
7to Chicago in 1947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts married twice, first to James
9Griffee in the 1950s and then Luster Fowler in the 1990s; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts worked at the University of
11Illinois Hospital in environmental services until her
12retirement in 1988; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts has two sons, Charles Watts and
14Edward Griffee, eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren,
15and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts has been a member of New Light
17Baptist Church "The Purple Church" for over 60 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts has always enjoyed dancing and
19bowling but gains the most joy now by spending time with her

1family and grandchildren; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lillian Watts stays active by weekly visits to
3Chicago Commons Adult Day Services, where she participates in
4social and recreational activities; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Lillian Lorena Watts on her 100th birthday and
8wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Lillian Watts a symbol of our respect and esteem.
