SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Bivens of Taylor Ridge, who passed away on April 26, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Tom Bivens, the son of Richard and Mary (Bopp) Bivens, was born in Milan on November 5, 1949; he served as a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Mary Ann McManus on September 7, 1977; and

WHEREAS, Tom Bivens worked as an assembler at Case IH, retiring after 30 years of service; he was also a master carpenter, working in the home improvement business for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Tom Bivens enjoyed doing yard work and reading; he loved helping others and was a blood donor for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Tom Bivens was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Richard (Connie) Bivens and John Bivens; and

WHEREAS, Tom Bivens is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Bivens; his sons, Clint (Leigh) Bivens and John (Mallory Harrelson) Bivens; his grandchildren, Sadie (Austin) Busby and Dean (Olivia Frazer) Bivens; his great-grandchildren, Briar Busby and Penny Busby; his siblings, Sue Shelladay, Minerva Guinn, and Randall (Cheryl) Bivens; his sister-in-law, Linda Bivens; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas E. "Tom" Bivens and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Bivens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
