SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Bivens of Taylor
4Ridge, who passed away on April 26, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Bivens, the son of Richard and Mary (Bopp)
6Bivens, was born in Milan on November 5, 1949; he served as a
7member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the U.S. Army during
8the Vietnam War; he married Mary Ann McManus on September 7,
91977; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Bivens worked as an assembler at Case IH,
11retiring after 30 years of service; he was also a master
12carpenter, working in the home improvement business for 20
13years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Tom Bivens enjoyed doing yard work and reading;
15he loved helping others and was a blood donor for over 50
16years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tom Bivens was preceded in death by his parents
18and his brothers, Richard (Connie) Bivens and John Bivens; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom Bivens is survived by his wife of 46 years,
20Mary Ann Bivens; his sons, Clint (Leigh) Bivens and John

1(Mallory Harrelson) Bivens; his grandchildren, Sadie (Austin)
2Busby and Dean (Olivia Frazer) Bivens; his
3great-grandchildren, Briar Busby and Penny Busby; his
4siblings, Sue Shelladay, Minerva Guinn, and Randall (Cheryl)
5Bivens; his sister-in-law, Linda Bivens; and many nieces,
6nephews, and godchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Thomas E. "Tom" Bivens and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Tom Bivens as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
