SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant Alan J. Haymaker, who passed away February 22, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Alan J. Haymaker was born on July 5, 1953; he was an active member at Bethel Community Church and the Chicago Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Haymaker was appointed to the Chicago Police Department in 1988 and served faithfully for over two decades; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Haymaker was a third-generation officer with the Chicago Police Department, preceded by his father and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Sergeant Haymaker's star, numbered 2532; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Haymaker was a proud member of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Haymaker leaves behind his wife, his daughters, his parents, his brothers, and his sisters; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Haymaker dedicated and gave his life to protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and his Fraternal Order of Police brothers and sisters, the passing of Sergeant Alan J. Haymaker; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sergeant Haymaker as an expression of our sympathy.
