SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald T. Havey, M.D. of Lake Forest, who passed away on April 30, 2012; and

WHEREAS, In 1948, he graduated from Marquette University in Pre-Med; in 1952, he graduated from Marquette's School of Medicine; from 1952 to 1953, he served his internship rotation at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee; from 1953 to 1955, he served as a Commissioned Officer in the Medical Corp of the United States Army in Germany; and

WHEREAS, He served his residency in Internal Medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he also completed his Post Graduate Specialty in Gastroenterology (1958 to 1959); he then began his private, solo practice in Lake Forest (1959 to 1984); and

WHEREAS, Dr. Havey was board certified and served on the staff of Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan since 1985, Condell Medical Center in Libertyville since 2001, and on the hospital staff of St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan from 1980 until it closed in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gerald Havey's was the father of Thomas J., Terence P., Maureen E. (Ed McMillen), Michael (Jill), and Brian R. Havey; and the loving grandfather of Lauren T. and Ellen T. Havey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Gerald Havey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Gerald Havey as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
