SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Anna Theodora Schalz, who passed away on October 28, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Anna Schalz was born on May 2, 1914, in St. Charles to Micalena and Martin Laurinas; she attended Holy Angels School and graduated from St. Therese Grade School; she married John C. Schalz on May 7, 1930; and

WHEREAS, Anna Schalz and her husband operated the Schalz Meat Market in Aurora and became instrumental fixtures in their community; she worked for 24 years as a housekeeper at Sunnymere Retirement Home; she retired in May of 1997, at the age of 83; and

WHEREAS, Anna Schalz enjoyed helping her grandchildren deliver papers, pulling weeds, attending band concerts, dancing a spirited polka, and cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events; she was a long-time member of St. Therese and Holy Angels Parishes; and

WHEREAS, Anna Schalz was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Schalz; her sisters, Stella Smith, Anne Connolly, and Susan Cibulskis; her son-in-law, Robert Wrona; and her grandson, John Howard Schalz; and

WHEREAS, Anna Schalz is survived by her children, Anita Wrona, John (OK Hui) Schalz, Chuck (Sharon) Schalz, and Peg (Tom) Lentz; her 13 grandchildren; her 24, soon to be 25, great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anna Schalz, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anna Schalz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
