SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Laura Kay Berry of Springfield, who
4passed away on March 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laura Berry was born to Donald and Beverly
6(Fryhoff) Skeels in Springfield on March 12, 1959; she married
7John Berry in Springfield on April 11, 1987; she earned her
8degree in Court Reporting from Brown's Business College; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Laura Berry was an official court reporter for
10the State of Illinois, working at the Sangamon County
11Courthouse for 44 years; before her passing, she planned to
12retire in July 2023; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Laura Berry was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a
14Jeep enthusiast, and she enjoyed flower gardening; she also
15enjoyed going on any beach vacation, but she had a special love
16for Ft. Myers Beach; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Laura Berry adored her family; she was a very
18generous person and the ultimate hostess; she enjoyed
19attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events;

1    WHEREAS, Laura Berry was preceded in death by her father
2and her maternal and paternal grandparents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Laura Berry is survived by her husband; her
4daughters, Elyse (Ryan) Berry and Emma Berry; her mother; her
5grandchildren, Adelyn, Lakyn, Briggs, and Hudson; her
6siblings, Jeffrey Skeels and Lezlie (David) Brannan; her
7half-sister, Jessica Call; her many nieces, nephews, and
8cousins; and her lifelong best friend and sister-in-law, Jill
9McCurley; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Laura Kay Berry and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Laura Berry as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
