SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael John Gerace, formerly of
4Downers Grove, who passed away on April 25, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was born on September 17, 1955,
6and he was the son of John and Annette (Lupo) Gerace; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Michael Gerace served as a firefighter in the
8Westchester Fire Department for 30 years; he also worked as a
9painter for Craftsman Painting and Decorating, and he operated
10his own carpet cleaning business for many years; after his
11retirement from the Westchester Fire Department, he worked
12part-time at Kodiak Controls until he moved to Sun Prairie,
13Wisconsin; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was diligent about his daily
15workouts and enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with
16his family, especially his three grandchildren; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Michael Gerace was preceded in death by his
18parents; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Michael Gerace is survived by his wife and best
20friend, Joan (McCabe) Gerace; his children, Michael

1John-Charles Gerace and Mallorie Lynn (David) Mertz; his
2grandchildren, Samuel, Josie, and Scarlett Mertz; his
3siblings, Robert (Pat), Catherine (John) Moore, James (Laura),
4and Jack (Theresa); his sisters-in-law, Linda (Gerry) Blight
5and Karen (Chuck) Jorgensen; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and
6godchildren; and his many friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Michael John Gerace and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Michael Gerace as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
