SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Deborah L. "Debbie" Jerisha, who passed away on September 6, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Jerisha was born to Harold and Ruth (Ogrzewalla) Clark in Du Quoin on March 24, 1951; she attended Joliet Public Grade Schools and Joliet Central High School for two years before moving to Milwaukee with her mother, where she graduated from Washington High School; she married Anthony "Tony" Jerisha Jr.; she attended Joliet Junior College before ultimately leaving the nursing program to raise her family; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Jerisha was a stay at home mom, raising her sons, and returned to work outside the home after they were grown; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Jerisha enjoyed Florida vacations with her family and camping trips to South Wilmington Sportsman's Club in Essex; she was a passionate advocate for animal rights; she loved owning and riding horses and feeding the wildlife in her backyard, including the fish in the pond, squirrels, and birds; she liked watching documentaries and programs about the supernatural; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Jerisha was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; her father-in-law, Anthony Jerisha Sr.; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Jerisha; and her dogs, Pooh Bear, Boo Bear "Bear", and Taffy; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Jerisha is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tony; her sons, Anthony "Little Tony" (Lori) Jerisha and Dr. Jason Jerisha; her brother-in-law, Dr. John (Susan) Jerisha; her nephew, Joshua Jerisha; her grandchildren, Darin Jerisha and Taylor Chamness; several cousins; and her cats, Squirrel and Picasso; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Deborah L. "Debbie" Jerisha and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Debbie Jerisha as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
